The aim of the paper is to investigate the behavior of cold-formed steel open profiles under compression axial load combined or not with bending. The study concerns profiles which are commonly used to build industrial storage pallet racks. The behavior of these profiles is significantly influenced by local instability phenomena, which may interact with distorsional and global instability ones. The paper describes the results of a series of experimental tests carried out in the testing laboratory of ROSSS S.p.A. These results are then compared with code-specified expressions of M-N strength domains in order to evaluate their reliability.

Abstract
