This paper deals with two fundamental issues re- lated to P2P video streaming. The first concerns the creation and management of an overlay architecture, called Spare Capacity Group (SCG), for discovering available peer video resources. The second concerns the completely client-based dynamic allocation of video resources and management of video distribution trees. In particular the second problem is faced by exploiting a socially inspired (evolutionary) game theory approach. Preliminary sim- ulation results demonstrate the promising features of both the SCG and the evolutionary approach for P2P video streaming applications.

Abstract
This paper deals with two fundamental issues re- lated to P2P video streaming. The first concerns the creation and management of an overlay architecture, called Spare Capacity Group (SCG), for discovering available peer video resources. The second concerns the completely client-based dynamic allocation of video resources and management of video distribution trees. In particular the second problem is faced by exploiting a socially inspired (evolutionary) game theory approach. Preliminary sim- ulation results demonstrate the promising features of both the SCG and the evolutionary approach for P2P video streaming applications.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
