The implementation of an integrated satellite terrestrial professional medical network that includes clinical data sharing and real-time audio/video interactions among specialists, healthcare operators and patients represents the main goal of KosmoMed, a 2-year project recently funded by the European Space Agency. This paper gives an overview of the KosmoMed integrated e-Health system, describing the overall architecture and the main strategies and technologies considered for the development of a professional medical network.
