This contribution is related to a project aimed to enhance the active citizenship and empowerment in adolescents, promoting and improving their community engagement, opposing racial discrimination and fostering social inclusion and cultural integration. Project has been realized in a Public High school of Florence, whose peculiarity is to have the highest number of foreign students. The method is participatory action research. First step was to explore the phenomenon by quantitative and qualitative research; second step was to realize Photovoice groups, in order to produce audiovisual materials to promote integration in the local community; third step was aimed to improve skills in the two groups, so to become peer mediators for the other students and to promote their participation as active citizens.
