This study aims to measure how successful a new stepwise method for preoperative radiographic templating is in achiev- ing postoperative restoration of anatomical offset and leg length compared with the anatomy of a healthy contralateral hip. We specifically measured the relationship of several radiological pelvic landmarks on the affected hip in compar- ison to the unaffected limb to define the appropriate compo- nents. We hypothesized that many templated landmarks might be preoperatively identified and followed intraoperatively, leading to successful compliance with the preoperative templating and to overall error reduction. The authors finally evaluated the precision of the outcome as a function of the preoperative planning.
