This work aims to show the curricular experience of Scuola-Città Pestalozzi, a public elementary school located in Florence, Italy. The school was created at the end of World War II, when Italy was liberated from Nazi power, aiming to rebuild the country and educate the new Italian citizen, free of fascist authoritarianism. Today the school is a reference for being at the forefront of Italian educational thinking, becoming a living laboratory for experimenting new pedagogic proposals, result of a long history of research in partnership with universities. Its curriculum is distinguished by combining without hierarchies, disciplinary knowledge, cross themes with cognitive abilities in order to educate active and critic citizens.

Abstract
