In this paper, some results of the research carried out in the Image Processing and Communication Lab of the University of Florence are presented. They regard some useful applications for the Cultural Heritage field. In particular, we present two different techniques: the detection of edges or borders and the virtual restoration of art works, particularly focusing on the filling of lacunas. Moreover, some focus is posed over the usage of these different techniques, i.e. over the need of a user friendly interface.

Abstract
In this paper, some results of the research carried out in the Image Processing and Communication Lab of the University of Florence are presented. They regard some useful applications for the Cultural Heritage field. In particular, we present two different techniques: the detection of edges or borders and the virtual restoration of art works, particularly focusing on the filling of lacunas. Moreover, some focus is posed over the usage of these different techniques, i.e. over the need of a user friendly interface.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
