My essay reconstructs the broad outline of Antonio Damasio's thought, with particoular reference to his book Looking for Spinoza: Joy, Sorrow and the Feeling Brain (2003), where Damasio describes from a neurobiological point of view human feelings and emotions. Abstract

My essay reconstructs the broad outline of Antonio Damasio's thought, with particoular reference to his book Looking for Spinoza: Joy, Sorrow and the Feeling Brain (2003), where Damasio describes from a neurobiological point of view human feelings and emotions. In doing that, he highlights how most of the main outcomes of contemporary neurobiological research confirms Spinoza's conception about feelings and emotions (Ethica, 1677).
