Si propone l’edizione del commento agli Atti degli Apostoli tràdito dal manoscritto Paris, BNF, lat. 15679. Il codice costituisce l’unico testimone noto di una miscellanea esegetica progettata e fatta realizzare da Teodolfo vescovo di Orléans nei primi anni del IX secolo, contenente una raccolta di testi patristici trascritti integralmente o più spesso in forma di epitomi, affiancati da alcuni commenti anonimi. Tra questi, il commento agli Atti degli Apostoli, testo di notevole interesse poiché preceduto, nella storia dell’esegesi occidentale, da un solo esempio di commento continuo dedicato allo stesso libro neotestamentario: l’Expositio Actuum Apostolorum redatta da Beda il Venerabile tra il 709 e il 716, e da lui stesso ampliata e rivista dopo il 730 (Retractatio in Actus Apostolorum). La datazione dell’Expositio, individuabile come possibile fonte per alcuni passaggi del nostro commentario, può essere considerata terminus post quem per la datazione dell’opera. Uno studio del testo – articolato in analisi formale e stilistica; studio delle tipologie di esegesi applicate; ricerca delle possibili fonti testuali – ha permesso di formulare un’ipotesi intorno all’origine del commentario: il testo sarebbe riconducibile all’ambiente irlandese, prodotto in ambito scolastico nella seconda metà dell’VIII secolo. The commentary to Acts of the Apostles published here is preserved in the manuscript Paris, BNF, lat. 15679. The codex was realised at the beginning of the ninth century, and it provides an exegetical miscellany for the whole Bible. Under the direction of Theodulf bischop of Orléans, the volume was most likely projected and executed in the scriptorium of the St-Mesmin monastery at Micy. The collection gathers patristic commentaries either transcribed in their entirety or, more frequently, epitomized, next to some anonymous texts, including the commentary to Acts of the Apostles. This is a text of particular interest because, prior to its realisation, only one other commentary to the same New Testament book had been redacted: the Expositio Actuum Apostolorum composed by Bede the Venerable between 709 and 716, which he revised himself after 1730 (Retractatio in Actus Apostolorum). The Expositio may be one of the sources used by the anonymous commentator and, therefore, its composition could be considered terminus post quem to date the text. The critical edition provides an analysis of the text, a study of the exegetical typologies adopted by the author, and a research of the textual sources. This study has led to the formulation of a hypothesis about the origin of the text: the commentary was composed in a scholastic environment of an Irish milieu during the second half of the eighth century.
