This short contribution is dedicated to the Italian Vilfredo Pareto [Paris, France, July 15, 1848 – Celigny, Switzerland, August 19, 1923]. He was an engineer, an econo mist, and a sociologist. Among his many contributions, he stated the Pareto principle (also known as the 80/20 rule), he defi ned the Pareto distribution, and the Pareto optimum [1]. Pareto ideas have had a very important impact on engineering, as the queries on IEEE Xplore presented later on in this work will show.
