La presente ricerca è incentrata sullo studio dei tre tappeti persiani, ovvero gli Sha Abbas, conservati a Roma: due nel 'Museo del Palazzo di Venezia', e il terzo nella 'Galleria Doria Pamphilj'. Si tratta di un lavoro inedito, incentrato sulla raccolta di documenti e sulle motivazioni storiche che hanno portato alla presenza di questi tappeti in collezioni romane. Ampiamente conosciuto come Polonaise, questo tipo di tappeti è sempre stato di grande interesse per gli studiosi europei. Dei circa duecentotrenta esemplari sopravvissuti fino ad oggi, alcuni sono stati studiati più dettagliatamente, altri invece, come i tre conservati a Roma, risultano spesso solo menzionati dalla letteratura specializzata. *** This research deals with the three Sha Abbas Persian carpets kept in Rome: two in the ‘Museo del Palazzo di Venezia’, and the third one in the ‘Galleria Doria Pamphilj’. It is an unpublished work mainly based on documentation, focused on the historic reasons for the presence of these carpets in Roman collections. Widely known as Polonaise, this kind of carpets has always been of great interest to European scholars. Approximately two hundred and thirty examples survive today, but some of them have been only briefly mentioned in specialized literature, like the three ones kept in Rome.
