La Teoria Economica dominante non gode ottima salute

In an article recently published in this journal, and Nerozzi Ricchiuti argue, with some justification, that the recent financial crisis have highlighted the conceptual inadequacy of neoclassical theory. We respond to these criticisms, underlining the strengths and achievements of the neoclassical theory. We argue that there is no incompatibility between methodological individualism and aggregate sizes. Finally, it is recognized that the new approach of Agent-Based Computational Economics, an approach advocated by Nerozzi and Ricchiuti, has produced interesting results and may represent a new important framework.
