Abstract

The estimation of the potential benefits of a new safety technology using a retrospective approach based on real world crash data is affected by the inevitable uncertainty on the data. This paper presents a new method for the estimation of the benefits of autonomous emergency braking for motorcycles that could solve the issues due to uncertainty in the original crash data used in the evaluation process.
