Abstract. In mission critical scenarios, fast and correct data reception is a crucial feature of telecommunication systems: particularly, to cope with unknown and fast variable channel state condition, with large Doppler shifts and low available power, incoherent and computationally light modulation techniques have to be considered. This paper deals with the design of suitable systems for a specic application elds, namely control operation of a satellite while it is placed into its orbit and the disposal of a satellite at the end of its life or the deep-space missions; moreover, a digital implementation of a receiver, based on DD-PSK modulation, is introduced which is perfectly compliant with these requirements.
