Highly functionalised tetrahydroquinolines have been obtained by a modular approach consisting of a nitrone 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition to 2-bromostyrene followed by isoxazolidine N–O cleavage and copper-catalysed aromatic Nsubstitution/cyclisation. A 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1,8-naphthyridine was obtained in the same way.

Abstract

Highly functionalised tetrahydroquinolines have been obtained by a modular approach consisting of a nitrone 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition to 2-bromostyrene followed by isoxazolidine N–O cleavage and copper-catalysed aromatic Nsubstitution/cyclisation. A 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1,8-naphthyridine was obtained in the same way.
