TEMPUS DEREL (Development of Environment and Resources Engineering Learning) project experience and objectives are presented in this paper. The main characterictics and guide elements of the second cycle environmental engineering curriculum, as well as the lifelong learning program, worked out in the framework of the DEREL project, are described. The approach and methodology implemented in the development of the DEREL courses are pointed out. DEREL project findings useful to the engineering education community are discussed.
