We discuss our recent theoretical and experimental results concerning both retardation and acceleration of laser pulses with nanosecond temporal duration. The effects are obtained by employing ‘incoherent’ schemes, i.e. not involving coherent process such as, for instance, electromagnetically-induced transparency.

Abstract

We discuss our recent theoretical and experimental results concerning both retardation and acceleration of laser pulses with nanosecond temporal duration. The effects are obtained by employing ‘incoherent’ schemes, i.e. not involving coherent process such as, for instance, electromagnetically-induced transparency.
