The ideal product would be ready to use, fast-acting, nonantigenic, applied and removed easily, inexpensive, stable and transportable, and would cause few side effects. Finding this ‘ideal hemostatic agent’ is important, because reduced blood loss and reduction in blood transfusions has been demonstrated to result in superior surgical outcomes in NSS. Since these hemostatics have been used separately and in different combinations with varying success, comparative studies on the clinical efficacy of these hemostatics are needed. Moreover, the creation of an European and American registry on kidney cancer surgery, recording techniques, approaches, outcomes and the type and the use of hemostatic agents with the aim to shed light on these controversies is warranted.
