The importance of restoring the historical urban green spaces, which may effectively be considered an urban infrastructure, requires careful delineation and analysis of the issues which may be faced during conservation. A preliminary study, conducted on the trees which line Viale dei Colli in Florence in order to assess the plant health state and to monitor the presence of signs and symptoms of disorders due to biotic and abiotic stress factors, has showed a widespread situation of decline or dieback of the plants of this historic heritage. Consequently, guidelines for conservation and restoration interventions have been drawn up, taking into account the specific context examined and its outstanding historical and cultural value.
