There is no question that teaching hospitals are thriving and their programmatic activities continue to expand, maintaining a prominent role in society. Under these circumstances, it is vital to research on the state and the development of the future role of teaching hospitals and the best organization model to respond and adapt to the change in medical education and delivery of quality care. The paper introduces the main issues of the international debate, highlighting design solution useful to architects and researchers alike.
