On November 30th, 2014 Danilo Torre, former Professor of Palaeontology at the University of Florence, passed away peacefully. With the disappearance of Danilo Torre, Italian Palaeontology will lose one of its most influential and esteemed professional members. Danilo Torre was a keen and attentive researcher, with a broad view of the problems, characterized by an inexhaustible curiosity and desire to explore new research issues. By balancing his geological training with a palaeobiological vision, he contributed to the development of a modern approach to Vertebrate Palaeontology in Italy
