This article represents an attempt to explore and underline the potentiality of ‘life skills education in schools’ and of ‘learning to live together’, respectively recognized as one of UNESCO’s Four Pillars of Education, and that can be synthesized in different correlated goals such as the promotion of human and children rights, education for peace, citizenship, health behaviours, conflicts and violence prevention and gender equality. In particular, the article focuses on the increasing importance of the international dimension in education curriculum in order to promote an international dialogue and international competences. By picturing the scenarios of contemporary society of globalization, the article offers a concrete reflection on the priority to invest in a renovate, flexible, international and competent education, which will help students, teachers, educators, children and parents, to become active, responsible and global citizens, working together to contrast violence, racism, prejudice and illegality in the common perspective to build a future of peace, culture, competence an respect.

Abstract
