Chopping pineapple residues can be successful only if specifically designed implements are used since other equipment doesn’t give satisfactory results. A specifc machine has been studied by the authors and a prototype of its multiple knife vertical axle cutting system has been tested with various vegetal material in order to evaluate its performance. These trials have showed how some of the possible configurations of the cutting system do not provide satisfactory results while others are very encouraging and helpful in the design of the machine
