The doctoral research consists of a comparison between Italy and Spain on the issues of inclusion of children with disabilities. To understand the dynamics of inclusion in both countries, I have chosen to use the tool that best suits the purpose, the Index for Inclusion. It is a tool created by two British psychologists, T. Booth and M. Ainscow. With this tool, they have made it possible to give advice on how to construct an inclusive environment. Field research was conducted amongst classrooms of first and second grade students and fourth and fifth year secondary school students. Additionally, a formulated short-answer questionnaire for high school students was also handed out; to better understand their opinion on the concept of inclusion. The objective is to understand what young children think of people with disabilities and to grasp how these notions are developed in their school setting.
