Il volume presenta lo studio scientifico preparatorio svolto dal gruppo di ricerca dell'Università degli Studi di Firenze e le varie fasi di condivisione e confronto tra le amministrazioni interessate dei comuni di Firenze, Bagno a Ripoli, Fiesole, Sesto F.no, nel procedimento che ha condotto alla definitiva proposta e approvazione della buffer zone per il sito UNESCO "Centro Storico di Firenze”. La buffer zone è quell’ulteriore livello di tutela attorno al bene iscritto nella Lista funzionale alla preservazione del suo Outstanding Universal Value; ovvero è quella area attorno alla core zone atta a garantire la tutela e integrità del sito, del suo quadro scenografico, delle principali visuali da e verso l’oggetto di salvaguardia. La buffer zone per il “Centro Storico di Firenze” è stata approvata dalla Commissione del Patrimonio Mondiale il 6 luglio 2015, in occasione della 39° sessione (Bonn, 2015) con “Decision 39 COM 8B.44”. The book presents the scientific preparatory study carried out by the research group of the University of Florence and the various stages of sharing and comparison between the concerned authorities of the municipalities of Florence, Bagno a Ripoli, Fiesole, Sesto F.no, in the proceedings that led to the proposal and final approval of the buffer zone for the "Historic Centre of Florence" UNESCO site. The buffer zone is that additional level of protection around the property, inscribed in the List, functional to the preservation of its Outstanding Universal Value; we might define the buffer zones as an area around the core zone designed to safeguard and to ensure the integrity of the site, its scenic frame and the main views from and towards the property to be safeguarded. The buffer zone for the Historic Centre of Florence was approved by the World Heritage Committee the 6th July 2015, on the 39th session (Bonn, 2015) with Decision 39 COM 8B.44.
