In this paper, the optimization of a planetary concrete mixer in terms of wear resistance of blades is proposed. A new design of the mixing blades is proposed and discussed. Experimental tests performed on a two stars planetary concrete mixers are described and the results are shown. Test results display the progress of blades’ wear over time and prove that the proposed geometry improves blade wear resistance and extends their useful-life.

Abstract

In this paper, the optimization of a planetary concrete mixer in terms of wear resistance of blades is proposed. A new design of the mixing blades is proposed and discussed. Experimental tests performed on a two stars planetary concrete mixers are described and the results are shown. Test results display the progress of blades’ wear over time and prove that the proposed geometry improves blade wear resistance and extends their useful-life.
