Soil microorganisms are involved in many soil processes and thus their activities markedly influence soils functionality. Soil β-glucosidase, generally microbial origin, are involved in the hydrolysis of cellobiose to glucose and their activities in soil have been taken as indicator of soil quality and have been correlated with the capacity of soil to stock organic C. There is need to understand the origin of β-glucosidase in soil and to detect the β-glucosidase encoding genes and their expressions. So project was focused on diversity of microbial β-glucosidase genes in soil and their expression as detected by mRNA and amplicon sequencing analysis, particularly in rhizosphere of maize lines with different Nitrogen use efficiency and coniferous forest soil. Mainly developing techniques to find relationship between soil microbial community and soil functionality. Different molecular techniques and high-throughput sequencing technology were used to determine the diversity and origin of β-glucosidase enzyme in different soils.
