Drawing on a set of both Italian, English and Chinese sources that were taken in little or no consideration until now, this dissertation argued that with the internationalising of Manchurian Crisis in Northeast China, or rather, the Sino-Japanese conflict in 1931 and 1932, Fascist Italy obtained an opportunity to participate into the collective action of the League of Nations in Chinese issue, where Italy used to be absent for not a short period of time. Subsequent to that first participation, Fascist Government then participated in the technical cooperation between the League of Nations and China like the other Great Powers had done. As the National Government of China sent delegation to Europe and America, with a view to requesting loan and assistance from the Western world, the project of economic cooperation between Italy and China was proposed in Rome following the visit of eminent Chinese political personalities. However, the hesitation of Fascist Government in capital investigation and the political instability of Nanjing Government delayed the negotiations of cooperation project and finally ended the bilateral economic cooperation in vain. At the same time, the military cooperation, especially in the Air Force, developed smoothly, being characterized by several facts, such as Italian military missions coming to China, Italy accepting and training Chinese military officers, China purchasing a large number of aircrafts and munitions, and Italy assisting with the establishment of Chinese aircraft factory. Nevertheless, Nationalist China adhered to the sanctions of the League of Nations against Fascist Italy's invasion in Ethiopia in 1935, which gave a hit on the cooperation between two governments. The Fascist Italy's recognition of Japanese puppet regime in China, in the end, knocked the bilateral cooperation off the table.
