In this article the peace education is presented as a complex concept, which may take different forms according to local situations and the needs of involved population. Scholars see it as a philosophy, a mentality, or a progressive development of competencies that create a predisposition towards nonviolent conflict management and resolution. This chapter is the results of many experience of human development and peace education in several parts of the world and it looks at theories of peace education, participative methodologies, and different experiences realized on the territories. Arguing this vision, the Author analyzes the importance of Human Rights Education as a start point to educate at culture of peace. Referring to UNESCO recommendations, the article underlines how is important to design and implement actions of peace education in war and emergency situations. The peace education has to be a priority because it is given to the children the tools to understand the complex situation that they are living and helps to develop resilient behaviors.
