Abstract

In Florence many are the epigraphs dedicated to women who played an important role in the history of the town. Grand duchesses, Queens, poetesses, nuns, painters, singers, heroins of the Italian Risorgimento are the object of the these documents, here registered, translated (if written in latin or other languages), with a commentary and a brief biography of the lady they refer to. On a wall of a palace, on the facade of a Church, under the small devotional pictures in the streets, we may find memories also for women never mentioned by books of history. One of them is Antonietta Fiori, a teacher in a primary school who was a good teacher and in whose name a small chapel was restored by pupils, mothers of pupils and colleagues.
