In this thesis I've analyzed and studied the situation of Chinese Catholics in China in the 19th century, with a particular focus on the city of Wuchang where some Italian priests run a school for the Chinese converts. The thesis comprehends also a complete and annotated version of a travel journal written by a young Chinese convert, whose name is Guo Liancheng, who went in Italy in 1859.

Abstract
