The paper analyzes the development of the status of Sportsperson at the European level. In particular, the contribution moves on from the traditional definition of a sportsperson to analyse how the European Court of Justice has reshaped that definition in the mentioned three respects: free movement of sporting workers, free competition and judicial protection.
