The aim of the present doctoral thesis was to explore the development of oral and written narrative competence. In this context, transitions provide precious information. The main transition concerns with the passage from emergent to formalized literacy (kindergarten – 1st year of primary school), which corresponds to the passage from oral to written language. A further source of information concerns with the the transition from the ealy acquisition of writing skills (early years of primary school) to the mastering of the medium of writing (last years of primary school).
