A novel Ground-based Synthetic Aperture Radar (GBSAR) system with 3D imaging capability is proposed. It acquires through the horizontal scanning of a compressive sensing (CS) multiple input multiple output (MIMO) radar-head. Resolution in the horizontal plane (azimuth) is obtained by mechanical scanning, while resolution in the vertical axis (elevation) is obtained through the vertical disposition of the phase centres of a CS-MIMO. The paper reports the working principle and an experimental test of the equipment.

Abstract
A novel Ground-based Synthetic Aperture Radar (GBSAR) system with 3D imaging capability is proposed. It acquires through the horizontal scanning of a compressive sensing (CS) multiple input multiple output (MIMO) radar-head. Resolution in the horizontal plane (azimuth) is obtained by mechanical scanning, while resolution in the vertical axis (elevation) is obtained through the vertical disposition of the phase centres of a CS-MIMO. The paper reports the working principle and an experimental test of the equipment.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
