Abstract
The Research on the documentation of the Baths of the Alhambra Mosque in Granada takes part of a larger research project, born in 2017 from the collaboration between the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife, the DAda-LAB Laboratory of the University of Pavia ( responsible Prof. Sandro Parrinello), and the SMlab Laboratory of the University of Granada (responsible prof. Antonio Gòmez-Blanco). In November 2018, the study of the portion began, still visible today in part of the bathrooms, built in 1302-1304 by the sovereign Muhammad III, along the Calle Real de la Alhambra. The building has undergone numerous interventions and modifications to its original structure, among which a partial demolition is documented in 1534, the construction of a house between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, masking the bathrooms, known since the nineteenth century as “Casa del Polinario ", the name with which its owner, Antonio Barrios, which made it a meeting place for artists and musicians, and numerous interventions in the last century of which, in the archives of the Patronato, there are drawings and projects, including which stands out the intervention of the architect Leopoldo Torres Balbás in 1934, which reveals the Arab baths, after the complete restoration, and the previous demolition of almost the entire building that hid them. The survey campaign produced a documentation of the entire monument with the aim of analyzing the traces of transformations, readable on the walls, deciphering, in the construction techniques, the signs and stratifications, in order to identify the original portions of the mosque's bathrooms. From the three-dimensional database, information is processed with the aim of producing drawings capable of transmitting the historical value of the building and witnessing the transformation and restoration interventions that the monument has undergone.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
