The papers deepens various aspects of the exceptional and exemplary territory of Casentino (Tuscany, Italy), taking as reference point the two main protagonists of the local society, who were also the authors of the most significant built structures, that is the ‘feudal’ lords, with particular reference to the Guidi Counts, and one of the two monastic Orders settled in the area (the Vallombrosan Benedictines).
