The article aims at investigating the following thre questions: Why did the translators of the Septuagint find the Greek word wrong, or unfitting, or discordant as equivalent of mizbēaḥ? In the case of books familiar with both the words, did the translators introduce some sort of semantic variance between them, irrelevant to the Hebrew bible?
