This research explores the influence of hubris on leader's strategic behavior in innovation contexts. Based on the upper echelons theory, this study investigates how hubris can influence the strategic behavior of leaders in the modern socio-economic scenario. By analyzing the trends of the current entrepreneurship literature, the paper conceptualizes a new theorical framework, it’s illustrated in figure 1, depicting out four dimensions of hubris: narcissism, overconfidence, lack of empathy and power. The framework connects these dimensions of hubris with the tendency to innovate and how this can be strengthened by leaders past successes. The influence of success on the onset of hubris might be mitigated by some psychological and behavioral characteristics of the leader. The relationship between the leader's hubris and investment in innovation can be mitigated by some structural or organizational factors.
