Historical heritage of towns consists of buildings which have been made without any anti-seismic codes, structural analysis or materials certifications. Moreover, from their construction to nowadays, existing buildings have been subjected to several distributive and functional transformations. Despite being designed without any modern requirement, the existing constructions are expected to comply the current safety standards; for this reason, a new evaluation of the structural safety is needed. Starting from European and National codes, the present study aims at proposing a critic review about the assumptions to make in the modeling in the seismic performance assessments. Namely, an increase in the in-depth material characterization is proposed as a solution for the assessment of the seismic reliability of the case-study. The case-study is a public RC building made in Madrid at the beginning of the XX century: the “Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitetura de Madrid”.

Abstract
The case-study is a public RC building made in Madrid at the beginning of the XX century: the “Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitetura de Madrid”.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
