Degenerative arterial calcification is one of the many prices the human race pays for its stubborn refusal to accept that its genes were selected to take few survivors to famine, accidents, and infections to an age sufficient to procreate, but not much longer.1 Reading the coronary calcium score tables developed examining normal subjects with computed tomography, adjusted for age and sex, we realize how ubiquitous this dysmorphic tissue becomes with age.2–4 Coronary calcium, especially if subintimal and circumferential, is a challenge for crossing with wires and balloons and to expand balloons and stents
