A catalogue of the epigrahic collection (84 inscriptions, mostly Latin and a few Greek ones, including some forgeries) gathered at the beginning of the 20the century by Count Francesco Vitali, a nobleman from Fermo, as preserved today in Arezzo, Casa Museo dell'Antiquariato Ivan Bruschi. The introductory chapters investigate the personality and motivation of the collector, as well as the provenance of the inscriptions, most of which were demonstrably or ostensibly purchased in bulk by the Count in Rome from famed antiques dealers Elio Jandolo and Ernesto Magnani, rather than gathered in the immediate surroundings of Fermo as it has long been common knowledge.
