Diagnosis of latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) is usually based on the adult age, islet antibody detection, and insulin independence. This study investigates the diagnostic value of antibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) peptides in LADA and type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) patients, and their cross-reactivity with an Enterovirus-Coxsackie-B4 (CVB4) shared epitope.
