Heino Nyyssönen’s book is part of the scholarly attempt to measure the emergence, the internal mechanisms, and the future perspectives of Viktor Orbán’s Hungary against Western democratic standards. Nyyssönen’s ambition is to provide a scholarly account of Hungary’s democratic backsliding under Orbán by contributing an external (Finnish), albeit empathic, perspective to the global debate over why and how apparently consolidated democracies die.
