Total esophagogastric dissociation

Total esophagogastric dissociation (TEGD) with gastrostomy is designed specifically to meet the essential feeding needs of neurological impairment children by eliminating gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and the possibility of its recurrence. Primary TEGD with gastrostomy should ideally be offered as a single definitive procedure since it meets the family’s and caregiver's expectation. TEGD improves nutrition and growth, and significantly improves the quality of life for both the child and the family.
