Partecipazione democratica e rivoluzione digitale nell'Unione europea

This article provides an overview of the relationship between the democratic participation tools and the digital revolution at a European Union level. The first part critically analyzes the contribution that the tools of the digital society can offer to reinvigorate democratic processes within the political context of the European Union and the risks that can derive from the development of related tech-nologies. In the second part, the article discusses firstly the process set in motion by the “Joint Declaration” adopted by the EU institutions in March 2021 for a “Conference on the Future of Europe” and secondly the European Democracy Action Plan that aims at ensuring that citizens can participate in the democratic system through informed decision-making free from unlawful inter-ference and manipulation.
