Walter Benjamin e il "wirklicher Ausnahmezustand"

The topic is the analysis of the concept of Ausnahmezustand in Benjamin’s work and thought, made starting from the VIII thesis "Über den Begriff der Geschichte" (1940). The general thesis is that the “state of exception”, as it is used in context, could be one of the elements able to describe and criticise the modern-contemporary epoch. Specifically, I defend and underline how the state of exception, in the "wirklich" acceptation that it takes in 1940’s text, could be used to re-read a series of themes and problems typical in Benjamin's and in contemporary times, and already somehow present even in early texts. The reflection is articulated in three parts, corresponding to thematic groups, in order to show the conceptual movement between: (1) states of exception (generic, existential and baroque), (2) permanent state of exception and state of exception-as-rule, (3) real state of exception. The writing ends on the content of this latter, with the aim to draw its constitutive elements in terms of its subject, of its content as non-infinite task and of its temporality.
