Identificatori

Gli identificatori sono stringhe numeriche o alfanumeriche di caratteri associate in modo permanente e univoco a una risorsa per garantire l’accesso stabile a essa e ai suoi metadati. Svolgono un ruolo fondamentale nel web semantico poiché garantiscono l’interoperabilità tra sistemi diversi. Per questa ragione sono ampiamente utilizzati dalle biblioteche che stanno sviluppando politiche catalografiche apposite per la loro gestione. Gli identificatori nel loro complesso costituiscono una grande famiglia articolabile in una molteplicità di declinazioni e gradi di persistenza e possono essere distinti in base al sistema di risoluzione, all’entità a cui si riferiscono, alle tecniche per l’elaborazione e il rilascio dei codici, alle politiche dell’agenzia che li ha prodotti. Identifiers are numeric or alphanumeric character strings permanently and uniquely associated with a resource to guarantee stable access to it and its metadata. They play a fundamental role in the semantic web as they guarantee interoperability between different systems. For this reason, they are widely used by libraries that are developing cataloguing policies specifically for their management. Identifiers constitute a large family that can be articulated in a multiplicity of declinations and degrees of persistence and can be distinguished on the basis of the resolution system, the entity to which they refer, the techniques for processing and releasing codes, and the policies of the agency that produced them.
