Bach

Il libro intende presentare per la prima volta, al pubblico italiano, il poeta, scrittore e professore portoghese Pedro Eiras, attraverso la traduzione di Bach. Strutturato non in capitoli convenzionali, ma in quattordici sezioni, il libro in questione parla di Bach e di tutto ciò che ruota attorno alla figura del compositore tedesco: la musica in primis, a cui si aggiungono il ricordo di Bach attraverso la lettera della seconda moglie del 1750, la lettera di Leonhardt all’amico Nikolaus del 1973, il montaggio cinematografico di Straub e Huillet nel 1968, il silenzio della musica durante i viaggi della deportazione, il tema universale della vita e della morte e l’effetto catartico della musica. La scrittura fluida, ora di impronta moderna, ora contemporanea, abbinata ad un meticoloso e filologico approccio testuale, e ad affascinanti intrecci intertestuali, rappresentano la cifra scritturale di Pedro Eiras che permette al lettore di lasciarsi trasportare in spazi e tempi diversi, solo apparentemente lontani tra loro. The book aims to present for the first time, in Italian language, the Portuguese poet, writer and professor Pedro Eiras through the translation of Bach. Organized in unconventional chapters but in fourteen sections, the book at issue talks about Bach and all that focuses on the figure of the German composer: first of all music, than the remember of Bach through the letter of the second wife in 1750, the letter of Leonhardt to the friend Nicolaus in 1973, the film editing by Straub and Huillet in 1968, the silence of music during the deportation journey, the universal theme of life and death and the cathartic effect of music. The fluid, modern and contemporary writing, which is combined with a meticolous and filological textual approach and with fascinating intertextual mixtures, represent the writing style of Pedro Eiras, permitting the lector to be transported in different, but only apparently distant, spaces and times.
