In the essay, I contextualize the practice of the artists Remo Bianco and Raymond Hains by employing the category of appropriation. By doing so, the work of both artists can be considered as a major example of the discussion around objecthood, the autonomy of the picture plane, the representation VS. integration of reality through art, which marked the evolution of the art in the 1960s.
