"Nature City. Urban Greening for Changing Urban Environment" volume is the expression of seven-year scientific findings built within the INTEGRO UAD International Meetings convened at the University of Florence while the development of the collection of chapters reflects interpretations of the most pressing issues and necessary perspectives required to frame changes in planning and design. In putting together this collection, it is aimed to better understand questions, prospects, reflections, and rules on improving urban strategies and tactics in balancing the needs of nature and the built form to deliver a place. Discussions, debates, and stated considerations can now inspire to give a formal and comprehensive international attention to the transformation of urban heritage including ecological and sustainable design knowledge. The first part of the book on "New Dynamics of Public Open Space in Transition" tries to put forward a more appropriate definition of the public open space with innovative strategies and specific tools for issues regarding the change of historic urban landscapes and in relation to current urban greening trends and challenges. By establishing definitions, roles, and cultural values of an open space within the historic environment, layers, and limits of transformation, concrete intentions of preservation, debates took a significant step forward. The second part of the book "New Perceptions and Values of Waterfront Urban Space" reveals a deeper understanding of waterfront context and their ecological and sustainable transformation. An important issue is to identify special interest to recognize urban waterfronts as part of a sensitive urban environment while accessing to natural areas for recreation and protection and enhancing social, health, and economic vitality. This integrated approach clearly involves diverse and complex skills across different disciplines and opportunities to create and support nature with blue-green spaces for urban resilience.

Abstract
This integrated approach clearly involves diverse and complex skills across different disciplines and opportunities to create and support nature with blue-green spaces for urban resilience.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
